The rules for using Newt, in plain words.

1. What this covers

These terms apply to the Newt Discord bot and its dashboard. By adding Newt to a server, or by using its commands, you agree to them. If you do not, remove the bot from your server.

"You" means the person adding or using the bot. "Your server" means any Discord server you add it to.

2. What Newt does

Newt asks new members to rate your server, measures how many of them stay, and shows you whether your server meets what Discord Server Discovery asks for. Alongside that it offers welcome and goodbye messages, birthdays, automatic roles, self-serve role buttons, server counters, a server log, automatic and manual moderation with a numbered case history, and support tickets.

Every feature is switched off until a server administrator turns it on. Adding the bot on its own causes nothing to happen beyond a single introductory message.

3. Who can use it

You must meet Discord's own minimum age for your country, and you must follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Newt is not affiliated with Discord Inc.

Configuring the bot requires the Manage Server permission in that server, and individual features check their own permissions on top of that.

4. What you may not do

Use the bot to harass, target, or gather information about individuals
Use the logging features to monitor people in ways that break Discord's rules or the law where you or your members live
Attempt to break, overload, or work around the bot or the dashboard
Use automated moderation to enforce rules that are themselves against Discord's guidelines
Resell, rebrand, or present the bot as your own service

5. Your responsibilities as a server owner

Some features record what your members do. If you switch on the server log, the deleted media log, or automatic moderation, then you are the one deciding to record your members' activity and you are responsible for that decision.

Tell your members what you are logging, and where it goes
Keep log channels visible only to the staff who need them. The bot's /logging setup command creates them hidden by default
Handle anything your members ask you about their own data

Newt gives you the tools. What you record, who can see it, and how long you keep the messages posted into your own channels are your choices, not ours.

6. Data

What Newt stores, for how long, and what happens when you remove it are set out in full in the Privacy Policy. In short: settings, join and leave dates, rating scores and moderation cases are kept; message content is not stored in our database.

7. Availability

Newt is provided as is. There is no guaranteed uptime, and features may change or be removed. You can check whether the bot is running at any time on the status page linked from the dashboard.

Discord may change its own platform, permissions or rules in ways that break features here with no notice, and Discovery listing is Discord's decision alone. Newt reports what it can measure and does not promise a listing.

8. Paying for Newt

Premium is a paid subscription, monthly or yearly, bought from the Premium page on the dashboard. Payment is handled by Stripe, a payment processor: your card details go to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us.

A subscription renews by itself until you cancel it. You can cancel whenever you like, and Premium keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for. If a subscription ends, the Premium features lock again but nothing is deleted: your settings and your history stay, and everything unlocks again if you resubscribe.

The 1 to 10 rating survey is part of Premium. Scores your members have already given are kept either way.

If the Premium page says it is not open yet, nothing on this site can take a payment from you.

9. Ending it

You can stop using Newt at any time by removing it from your server. Its data for that server is then deleted, on the timetable set out in the Privacy Policy.

Access may be withdrawn from a server that breaks these terms, breaks Discord's rules, or abuses the service in a way that affects others.

10. Changes

These terms may be updated. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the bot after a change means accepting the new version.

For a data deletion request, the server ID is enough.
