NewtReaction roles and role buttons for Discord
Post a panel of buttons and members click to give themselves roles, like colours, pings or pronouns. Or tie an emoji on any message to a role.
Buttons answer privately, so the person clicking knows it worked. Reactions stay quiet.

How to set it up
🎛️ Role buttons
On the dashboard, open your server, go to Role buttons and add a panel. Give it a heading, pick the channel, tick the roles, and save. The bot posts the message within a few seconds.
From Discord,
/rolepanel createmakes an empty panel and/rolepanel addroleputs a button on it. The message appears as soon as the first role is added.As with autorole, the bot's role has to sit above every role on the panel.
🙂 Reaction roles
Right-click the message in Discord and copy its link. Then run
/reactionrole addwith that link, the emoji, and the role. The bot adds the emoji to the message itself, so people have something to click.The message can be anybody's, in any channel the bot can read. If it is in the channel you are typing in, the message id on its own is enough.
The bot's role has to sit above the role it hands out, the same as for panels.

Questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. A free server can have 10 role panels and 20 reaction roles, and Premium raises those to 25 and 60.
- Why doesn't clicking give the role?
- The bot's own role has to sit above the role it gives out, in Server Settings, then Roles. Discord won't let any bot hand out a higher role.
- Buttons or reactions: which should I use?
- Buttons. They can tell somebody why nothing happened, and they don't break when a custom emoji is deleted.
